20 Movies For Any Valentine's Day Celebration

What’s your Valentine’s Day vibe this year? Night in with your high school sweetheart? What about a first date with someone that you've been crushing on for years? Or maybe just hanging out with your besties?

Anyway that you end up spending your February 14th, love will be swirling around in the air. If you need some help in the love category this year, I've put together a list that will get you in the cupid mindset. So sit back, hit play, and fall in love with these twenty movies!

Spicy Romance
My favorite kind of romance, tbh. It’s got danger, a complicated love story, and above all a trilogy to keep your interest piqued for hours. Let’s take this to the state of Washington with Tessa and Harden’s romance in the After Series (After, After We Collided, and After We Fell) and then to the whirlwind love of Christian and Ana in the 50 Shades Trilogy!

Messy Rom-Coms
What’s love if it isn’t a little messy? From scandalous love triangles to secrets that get spilled instantly, there’s isn’t a dull moment around here. So if you feel like your life is a little too boring, these complicated relationships will get you out of that headspace. I’m talking Crazy, Stupid, Love and the interconnecting stories of He’s Just Not That Into You. (ps. David Lindhagen is still the villain)

Girls Night In
All you need is the unconditional love of a good girl crew! They’ll always have your back no matter what and the friends in Girls Trip know the benefits of a good girl squad. And if you and your besties are keeping your Valentine’s Day plans low key, then heat up the night with some Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey in Magic Mike & Magic Mike XXL!

Nicholas Sparks Tear Jerkers
Nicholas Sparks does love stories better than anyone I know. So which route are you going to go? The classic Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams romance in The Notebook or my favorite rom-mystery starring Juilanne Hough and Josh Duhamel in Safe Haven? Either way, you’ll have tears flowing down your face by the time the credits roll.

Animated Love Stories
Love is coming to you in the form of a fairy tale from far far away. Or maybe it’s closer than you think if you are embracing everything Tiana and New Orleans in The Princess and The Frog. But if you’re up for an adventure, then do I have the place for you! I bet you weren’t thinking of saving a damsel in distress in a tower that only an Ogre and Donkey can save. Yes, I’m 100% talking Shrek.

Meg Ryan Whirlwinds
Can we just appreciate the love stories that accompany Meg Ryan? But if we’re talking Meg, you know that we also have to talk about her romance co-star, Tom Hanks. Throw a dart on the map and let’s get this meet cute started. The West Coast story of Sleepless in Seattle and the East Coast story of You’ve Got Mail are waiting for your hopeless romantic heart to fall in love.

Sweet Revenge
Revenge is best served with a side of love. From friends to enemies to friends again to lovers? Now that’s a story worth watching! Where does your revenge heart lie? Is it with Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon in The Spy Who Dumped Me? Could it be with Kate Hudson and Matthew McConughey’s love experiment in How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days? For me, it’s sandwiched in the love triangle of Chris Pine, Tom Hardy, and Reese Witherspoon in This Means War!
