The Cast Of The Breakfast Club: Where Are They Now?

Detention hasn't been the same since that one Saturday morning on March 24, 1984. Five high school students from different ends of the student body were forced to spend the day together and per the vice-principal's request - write a thousand word essay describing ‘who you think you are’. As we all know, chaos would ensue, secrets would be spilled, and ultimately the iconic fist in the air while walking across the football field was born.

It’s been 29 years since this cult classic made its debut with a cast that has continued to make a splash in Hollywood. Here's what the detention group of The Breakfast Club has been up to since -

Molly Ringwald as Claire Standish aka the princess
The girl that was sentenced to detention for skipping school to go shopping didn’t skip out on anything when it came to her acting career. After The Breakfast Club, Molly Ringwald went to star in Pretty in Pink which is one of the best rom-com-drams in my opinion. In recent years, she’s made an appearance on Riverdale as Archie’s mom, Mary Andrews.

Upcoming movies for Molly Ringwald include the thriller, Pursued, alongside Sam Trammell and Montauk which is about childhood friends that seek out treasure on a private island and find secrets about the family that lives there.

Emilio Estevez as Andrew Clark aka the athlete
Our resident athlete was sent to detention for doing the unthinkable - taping another student’s butt cheeks together. As wild as that seems, that doesn't even compare to the wild ride that Emilio has been on since The Breakfast Club was completed. Following the cult-classic, Emilio starred in St. Elmo's Fire and the forever iconic movie, The Mighty Ducks as Gordon Bombay.

If you’re looking for what’s to come for Emilio Estevez, you can find him soon starring and directing the drama he wrote, The Way: Chapter 2 which also stars Martin Sheen! Also coming soon is the third installment of the 'Young Guns’ film franchise, Guns 3: Alias Billy the Kid.

Judd Nelson as John Bender aka the criminal
The criminal that changed our lives forever was given Saturday detention for doing the most cliche thing - pulling the fire alarm. This anti-hero quickly became the crowd favorite giving us the fist pump heard around the world while ‘Don't You Forget About Me’ was playing. After that iconic walk off, Judd went with his detention buddy to star in St. Elmo's Fire. You can also find him in the 1986 action/sci-fi, The Transformers: The Movie.

Looking to the future, Judd has a few movies in the works including In-Security alongside Tara Reid, and action-drama titled The Final Run, that follows a former marine retreating to old ways to save his house, his company, and his wife.

Anthony Michael Hall as Brian Johnson aka the brain
Brian brought a flare gun to school that went off in his locker which was the reason he was given his Saturday morning detention. Concluding The Breakfast Club, Anthony Michael Hall went on to star in a bunch of legendary films like Edward Scissorhands, The Dark Knight, and Halloween Kills.

Anthony Michael Hall has a few projects in the works including the sci-fi/thriller, Roswell Delirium, and Trigger Warning with Jessica Alba!

Ally Sheedy as Allison Reynolds aka the basket case
And we save the best for last - the girl that actually wasn’t given detention but just attends because she had nothing better to do. But that was the exact opposite when it came to her personal breakout in Hollywood. Ally went to star alongside Judd and Emilio in St. Elmo's Fire and recently starred in Freeform’s Single Drunk Female series.

While there isn’t anything upcoming for Ally Sheedy just yet, we can’t wait to see what projects and new roles that she takes on soon!

Sincerely yours, the Breakfast Club.
