We’re down to the last days of 2021, and I must say that everyone I know will be glad to have this year behind us. 2022 must be better, right? (That’s what we said at the end of 2020, too… d’oh!)
But instead of contemplating what else could possibly happen to humankind and our planet in the future, I choose to escape into worlds of magical rings, amazing assassins, deaf aliens, 007s … and even outer space.
If you haven’t yet seen any of these movies, check them out before the new year is here. They’re 10 of the biggest theatrical releases of 2021 (before the award season movies arrived), and now they’re all at the Kiosk.
Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings – Wonderful new superhero, awesome “sidekick,” amazing martial arts.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage – This time around, both Tom Hardy and Woody Harrelson are shape-shifting aliens.
Marvel Studios’ Black Widow – Scarlett Johannsson’s Natasha Romanoff finally gets the spotlight, but it might just be her sister Yelena (Florence Pugh) who steals it.
F9: The Fast Saga – You must know what these movies are about by now, right?
A Quiet Place Part II – The kids gotta rise up and lead in their new alien-infested world.
No Time to Die – Daniel Craig says goodbye to 007 in his final film as Bond, James Bond.
Free Guy – Ryan Reynolds is living in a video game. Doesn’t sound too bad, actually!
Disney’s Jungle Cruise – The Rock and Emily Blunt navigate the Amazon in a rickety old boat looking for a mythical tree.
Dune – Timothée Chalamet (and his hair) take the spotlight in this epic space fantasy.
Space Jam: A New Legacy – LeBron and Bugs Bunny, a power duo if I ever saw one.
