If you were tuned into pop-culture happenings even the slightest bit earlier this year, you know that Kathryn Hahn was all anyone could talk about for weeks while Disney+’s WandaVision aired. Her character’s theme song, “Agatha All Along,” had even racked up 2 million streams and topped the charts on Spotify before the series’ finale. So while WandaVision may be over, we’re positive we haven’t seen the last of Hahn’s deliciously witchy Agatha.
It’s about time that Hahn is finally getting the hype and the spotlight she has deserved for so long, and what better day to celebrate her than today, her 48th birthday!
She’s one of those actresses who steals every scene she’s in, and that includes scenes in movies with some of her frequent A-list collaborators like Paul Rudd, Will Ferrell and Jason Bateman. You don’t get to have a successful, decades-long career in both TV (Crossing Jordan, Parks and Rec, Transparent and more) and movies without being great — and without being the kind of person others want to work with in such a cutthroat industry.
Her resume is way too long and impressive to do it justice through a recap in a blog post like this, but if you need your Kathryn fix or just want to do something to honor her awesomeness on her birthday, several of her best movies are available at the Box or through Redbox On Demand, including:
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days – As Kate Hudson’s best friend, Hahn goes all-in with Hudson’s character’s plan to start a fake relationship with an unsuspecting publicist (Matthew McConaughey) who’s playing a similar game.
Step Brothers – Just call this one “Hahn Gone Wild” thanks to her portrayal of the saucy and hilarious Alice, who has an affair with John C. Reilly’s man-child Dale. She is truly the unsung hero of this fan-favorite comedy.
Revolutionary Road – What’s amazing is that in the same year the raucous Step Brothers came out, 2008, Hahn also delivered a defiant and devastating performance opposite Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in this Oscar-nominated drama from Sam Mendes about the breakdown of a 1950s marriage.
Bad Moms and Bad Moms Christmas – Entire thought pieces have been written about Hahn’s brilliance in these two 2016 and 2017 comedies, in which she plays the foul-mouthed, hands-off mom Carla. She absolutely steals these movies.
Hahn has soooo many other incredible performances that if you’ve seen all of the above, be sure to check out some of her other films available at Redbox. There are some true gems.
Up next for Hahn is a highly anticipated movie — the sequel to Knives Out — as well as a high-profile Apple+ TV series opposite Paul Rudd and Will Ferrell entitled The Shrink Next Door.
All of us at Redbox are wishing Kathryn a marvelous birthday, and we couldn’t be happier about this latest and greatest chapter of her illustrious career!
