2020 was a weird year where we stayed inside, drank too much coffee, and watched as every movie release date get pushed back. But the good thing is that the time has come for those movies to make their debut! I for one am super excited to have new movies to talk about and watch a dozen times until I can quote them flawlessly.

Each month will bring us new cinematic cheer whether you are able to watch in a theatre, or from the comfort of your couch. I’ve found 14 movies (I tried my hardest to do just one a month, but failed in a good way) that will get you excited for what’s ahead in 2021! So, let’s get watching.

JANUARY: The Little Things
RELEASE DATE: January 29th 
CAST: Denzel Washington, Jared Leto, Sofia Vassilieva, Rami Malek

County Deputy Sheriff Joe Deacon (played by Denzel Washington) is assigned to a case to gather some evidence. But in his search, he gets consumed in the case and is now looking for the killer that is terrorizing Los Angeles. Decon is in for a wild ride when he realizes that this investigation will dig up his past and the secrets could be more disturbing than the killer himself. PS….how’s the trunk space?

FEBRUARY: Minamata
RELEASE DATE: February 5th
CAST: Johnny Depp, Bill Nighy, Hiroyuki Sanada

A story based on true events follows the life of a photojournalist of World War II, W. Eugene Smith (Johnny Depp). Smith is sent on an assignment in the Japanese coastal city of Minamata to document the devastating effect of mercury poisoning in the community. A picture is worth a thousand words, but the relationships that he creates are worth so much more.

MARCH: Chaos Walking
RELEASE DATE: March 5th 
CAST: Mads Mikkelsen, Tom Holland, Daisy Ridley, David Oyelowo 

Take a walk into this dystopian colony where chaos is among the world. Todd (Tom Holland) is navigating this new life where women don’t exist anymore, and all living creatures can read each other’s minds and thoughts in a stream of images, words, and sounds. And no one can escape the noise….

APRIL: No Time to Die
CAST: Ana de Armas, Daniel Craig, Rami Malek

Does this one really need an introduction?! In case you’ve been living under a rock, James Bond is back! He left the active service, but his old friend from the CIA asks for his help and Bond is back in the game. Now it’s time for him to look for a villain with some dangerous technology and put his chaos to an end.

A Quiet Place Part II
RELEASE DATE: April 23rd
CAST: Emily Blunt, John Krasinski

I’ve been waiting for the sequel the second I finished A Quiet Place. Part II will take us back to the Abbott family on their journey as they take on the terrors of the world. They will go to parts unknown and find that the creatures that hunt by sound aren’t the only threat to them….

MAY: Black Widow
CAST: Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, Rachel Weisz, David Harbour

Natasha Romanoff (aka Black Widow aka Scarlett Johansson) is confronting the dark part of her life before she joined The Avengers. She is back to where it all started to end her dangerous ties and bring down the force that is behind her lengthy ledger.

JUNE: Ghostbusters: Afterlife
CAST: Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Paul Rudd

Who you gonna call when you find out that you’re connected to the original Ghostbusters? Well, for this mom and her two kids, they’ll have to do a little digging to find out. Any movie that Paul Rudd is in pulls me in INSTANTLY and there’s no doubt that it won’t pull you in too.

JULY: Top Gun: Maverick
CAST: Tom Cruise, Jennifer Connelly, Jean Louisa Kelly, Val Kilmer, Miles Teller

Maverick is back after 30 years to train a new squad of Navy aviators. He finds a way to push the envelope to find a way to stay in the skies. These graduates are in for the flight of their life while training for their next mission. We’ve all been waiting for this movie to finally take flight and there’s no way that you’ll be able to stop talking about this epic action movie of the summer.

AUGUST: Candyman
RELEASE DATE: August 27th
CAST: Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Teyonah Parris, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett

The screenplay genius, Jordan Peele, has returned and this sequel is taking us to the Cabrini towers. The ghost story of the supernatural killer is floating around daring them to say his name five times into a mirror. The Candyman has been summoned through Anthony’s work and now he’s trying to find a way to get rid of his destruction once and for all.

SEPTEMBER: Death on the Nile
RELEASE DATE: September 17th
CAST: Gal Gadot, Kenneth Branagh, Armie Hammer

The romance of the desert has the power to seduce and get you to do things you wouldn’t imagine doing. Love and jealousy can consume you, but for someone on this river steamer, it turns them into a murderer. Watch as these twists and turns unfold as they uncover the killer.

RELEASE DATE: October 1st
CAST: Zendaya, Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Jason Momoa

Paul (Timothée Chalamet) has a gift to see the future in his dreams. This brilliant gift has given him a destiny beyond his understanding. NOVEMBER: Mission: Impossible 7
RELEASE DATE: November 19th
CAST: Vanessa Kirby, Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell, Angela Bassett

The 7th movie in the Mission: Impossible franchise is making it’s cinematic debut in 2021. While the plot and trailer haven’t been released yet, it’s already got everyone buzzing. I’ve never seen a bad Tom Cruise movie, and I know that MI7 won’t let any of us down!

DECEMBER: The Matrix 4
RELEASE DATE: December 22nd
CAST: Keanu Reeves, Ellen Hollman, Priyanka Chopra

A 4th installment in the Matrix universe is coming in HOT in 2021. But for the trailer and plot, that’s still a secret. But I do know one thing and that’s knowing that Keanu is going to shine bright as Neo once again and that’s all anyone really needs.

Untitled Spider-Man Sequel
RELEASE DATE: December 17th

Let’s end 2021 with the biggest mystery of all. Title? Unknown. Cast? Mostly rumored with only a few confirmed. All I know is that with this much hype around this movie, I’ll be in line to watch this the second it’s released!
