I'll admit that I had a negative attitude about the Old Dogs trailer before I even saw it. Maybe it's because its title -- and the fact that John Travolta and ridiculous 'do are in it -- reminded me of Wild Hogs, which I couldn't stand. Then I found out that Old Dogs is indeed from the director of Wild Hogs, Walt Becker. Strike Two! (Just so there's no confusion, Strike One was John Travolta's hair.)
But since I do have a soft spot in my heart for Robin Williams (I was a Mork & Mindy fan growing up -- what child of the '80s wasn't, right?), I was hoping his presence would outweigh Travolta's hair and at least get me past the film's premise. That premise being that Williams' character -- a hard-working businessman who's clueless about kids and family -- finds out he has seven-year-old twins... so he recruits his best friend (Travolta) to help him take care of them.
Yep, this film looks to be everything I feared it might be. (I will admit that Justin Long's "old woman" line made me laugh, but the rest of the clips were godawful. Viagra jokes are so late-'90s, come on.) The second trailer really brings the unfunny... check it out over the jump.
In this second spot, we get an extended look at the zoo scene. And it is lamer than lame.
Oh, Seth Green. How far you've fallen.
Clearly I have no interest in seeing this one. But something tells me that it's going to do well when it opens on Thanksgiving. It is a Disney title, after all, and there aren't going to be a ton of other family-friendly options coming out around that time. And it's Bernie Mac's final film (he plays "a flamboyant kids' entertainer" named Jimmy Lunchbox). But I think I'll wait for Disney's Princess and the Frog on December 11th instead. I can only assume that one's free of Viagra jokes.
This does look just horrible. I can't believe the guy who made WILD HOGS now has a movie called OLD DOGS. I'm assuming his next movie will be FROGS.

Not interested in this at ALL. I was amazed people actually laughed at some parts of the trailer at the theater. I guess this really is for the over the hill ages? Also I -hate- Seth Green. He really has fallen into the abyss!

Oh my gosh, Clint, your comment made me laugh out loud. Thank you!
