Notice some changes to redbox.com? Here's what's new:
- A new home page, with one-click access to the latest hit movies on redbox and the latest reviews on redblog.
- A little bit of account management, which allows you to manage the credit cards you use for online reservations and the email addresses redbox sends your receipts to (stay tuned -- more to come here).
-
A look and feel that redbox hopes you'll find easier to use.
PLEASE NOTE: If you have previously stored your credit card on redbox.com, you'll need enter your credit card number again. This is a one-time change, and redbox is sorry for the inconvenience.

I can't find promo number for free movie on first Monday of each month starting June 01, 2009...Francis

1. All movies that are ordered needs to be viewed in a shopping cart, even if purchased until we log off, once I ordered the same movie twice and didn't realixe it.
2. Send out a list of new releases the day before or at least have a place to view movies to be in the red box on Tuesday, some of us stay up until midnight to see what is coming.
3. When new changes are made send us a e-mail on Monday so we have time to view before changes take effect.
4. Other than the site is great, at least I don't have to go to the machine, then find out the movie I want isn't there.

An additional request for a mobile version to be used on smartphones/PDAs/other wireless devices. Hate to have to hunt for a movie on my way home....

I would LOVE to see a list of rented movies in the MY ACCOUNT section.
Also an option to unreserve a DVD incase of a duplicate rental occured.
Thanks Rick

only issue i have with the website is on the Foriegn language films. Its great that redbox is offering these, its just that I would like to know that these have english subtitles or not. Example is the Movie Mongol.
Posted by: lynxcub | June 02, 2009 at 08:01 PM
You may want to consider making the 2 options (Find a...) look like shorter versions of nice, big, red buttons from the previous design - (a)better affordance and (b)a sense of transition from the previous design. Careful the site doesn't become "cluttered", my eyes aren't quite sure where to stop. Keep up the good work and I'll keep renting.

I do not understand why 46 million customers were asked to re-enter their credit card info instead of Redbox simply saving the customer credit card database to draw from after the on-line rework was completed. Website upgrades are done all the time without having customers resubmitt their information. somehow Redbox was able to keep my email address and not delete that data. I was told it was held on the same database. What is up wih that?
I dd not see a notice requesting resubmission of credit info come across my email so I thought this might be a phishing attempt.

What would make the site (and my bank statement) better is if you could add movies to a "cart" and check out one time. Renting movies one by one is crazy and time consuming. Place them on "hold" for 10 minutes while I add the rest of my movies. Then once I check out complete the reservation at the kiosk. One checkout, one total transaction on my bank account (instead of each movie individually) and less transactions for Redbox to pay for. Otherwise, great service.

I discovered redbox a couple months ago. I thought it was great, but in the last couple of weeks my card has been getting charged for movies I haven't rented, or double charged for the same movie even though i only had it for one night. I contact customer service and all they do is apologize and give me promo codes. Promo codes are great, but i cant use them online to order, and by the time I get to the box, the movie i want is unavailable.
Posted by: Ebony | June 03, 2009 at 05:42 PM
Thank you. You are checked out and your disk is ready for pickup.
Hmmm. I kind of liked it when you used to cheer when I rented a movie.
Posted by: Robert | June 03, 2009 at 07:02 PM
The website updates are fine, but I am stunned that after all of this time, we still don't have a smartphone, iPhone, Blackberry, etc., based application or website to find your locations. I use Redbox when I travel, for business or pleasure. It is bad enough that I have to find a full web browser to use your site to find a location, but now your site doesn't even work on the many phone browsers that exist. Wake up guys. Get a mobile strategy.

Love Redbox telling everyone I don't know the other guys will stay busy at all. I guess they will just dust the boxes on the shelfs.

I am a new user to Redbox. One is located near my grocery store, and I am always in Walmart. It is great. I wanted to see an older movie and I paid $4.85 at Blockbuster. I could have it for 7 days. Who cares. I am only going to watch it once. When I see a movie I want that night I get it quick at Redbox. Wish I had seen it sooner. Keep up the good work.
Posted by: carol larocque | June 05, 2009 at 09:07 AM
The system continues to tell me that I have not selected a movie when I have selected one.
Posted by: Johnnie | June 05, 2009 at 12:14 PM
Surely this has been brought up before. Are you all planning to add the ability to add more than 1 dvd to a rental without fully checking out, then having to go back to locate a redbox, sort by release date, etc.?
Even if your site would "assume" you still want to rent from the same machine or location, that would be great.
Keep up the good work.
Posted by: lonestar | June 05, 2009 at 12:40 PM
It would be great if you would add a "select another movie" option before check out... and an "account status" option that would show currently reserved movies that haven't been picked up yet and at what location they are reserved, as well as recent account activity.
Thanks!
Posted by: Keven | June 05, 2009 at 02:16 PM
Sorry guys, I don't like it. I used to rent all the time online. Now I can't reserve online anymore - it just keeps telling me I haven't chosen a movie yet. What??? Put it back the way it was before. Thanks.
Posted by: Sue | June 05, 2009 at 04:46 PM
i like the new look of the site. It's great! I don't like having to re-enter my credit card info every time I reserve a movie, for some reason it doesn't save it like before. I have also had problems for two weeks in a row with reserving online and then when I go to pick up the movie, it pulls up my reservation and then won't give me the movie. It says there is a problem, then says I have no reservation. Fortunately, I was able to rent them without a reservation. Customer service was very nice the first week, but not as friendly or nice the second time. She acted like it was my fault. Is anyone else having this problem?
Posted by: melissa | June 05, 2009 at 09:04 PM
You should really create an iPhone app. I would love to rent movies from my iPhone.
Posted by: Andrea Vasquez | June 06, 2009 at 08:07 PM
I think the change sucks! I would like to see the "reserve another movie" button again, and I also like to see the one liners after the movie is rented. A little comedy never hurt anyone. It is boring with just the thank you. I am also having issues with searching for a movie to rent, locating one, then trying to find the redbox that it is located at, then renting it. There is no option to just rent it. It gives you the mapquest (which is helpful) and the option to locate other movies but no option to reserve the one that you have selected. It is not user friendly any longer. If something is not broke, then don't fix it.
Posted by: mary jane | June 07, 2009 at 03:08 PM
The new format is nice and one thing that I would like to see is the "coming soon" movies listed on the website!

Iwas trying to find a title and is not there, it will be good if you added classic titles, especially kids

regarding free monday night movies, how about sending out the free movie code on the 1st monday of every month, but allowing us to use the code for ANY monday of that month!
Posted by: B Parkes | June 07, 2009 at 09:16 PM
Why can't we use a coupon online? If I look to see if it is available I then have to drive down to the redbox and hope that it is still there. This is frustrating! Why can't we use coupons online and then go pick it up?
Posted by: Brad | June 07, 2009 at 10:52 PM
i like redbox and all, but i wish people would be more careful with the DVD's!! it's not like a normal rental place, where you know who had it last and can complain, or even have that person replace the damaged movie.
for example, i was just watching 'Paul Blart: Mall Cop,' and the movie kept freezing and going to a place ten minutes ahead of where i was! and every time i rewound, it went right back to the same place.
over, and over, and over again.

First let me just say that I am a Huge redbox fan. We use it all the time. The site looks great but I have always been annoyed that you don't have a "coming soon" section where I can see what movies are going to be released the following week/s. Also, as someone commented earlier, it would be great if it could remember our favorite locations.
Just an idea - could you set up some drive through redbox stations, I would love to be able to drive up, slide my card and be on my way!

>Notice some changes to redbox.com? Here's what's new:
>A little bit of account management,...
Since the new "look" and "feel" has be released, I've had nothing but trouble with logging online to reserve a movie. I suggest that you account management changes don't work. I've reset my password several times as a fix and I've called support several times and they reset my account. I then re-created a new account which did NOT ask me for my credit card, only my email address and password. Everytime I took an action to correct the problem, it has failed. I can logon ONE time, but no more. Resetting my password or account only works for ONE logon and then it must be repeated in order to logon again.
When you have corrected this problem, send me an email and I might just start using Redbox again. Until then, it's just too much of a hassle.

It looks great, now if you can add a section with the New Releases coming.
Posted by: John | June 08, 2009 at 01:56 PM
Please if you can post COMING SOON info and make it easier to locate ~ Always have trouble finding it on-line even though it's posted on the Box itself days in advance ~ Thanks Peyote ~

This is just what I wanted. Quick easy online ability to update address, e-mail, &/or credit card info.

not really sure..............just got on to see what was coming out new tomorrow, and they were not listed.
Posted by: shirley roddey | June 08, 2009 at 09:37 PM
There is two things missing that I believe would add to the site. One of those things is what a couple of other people have said, and that is a listing of Blu Ray titles available at each location. Also, I would like there to be a place on the site where if Redbox doesn't receive a movie, you can put in a request for it.
Posted by: Charles | June 08, 2009 at 10:40 PM
I don't like having to check out after each movie I rent. I liked it better before.. when you could make a list of all the movies to check out, then check them all out at once.
Other than that.. no complaints.
Posted by: Tristen | June 09, 2009 at 12:11 AM
The look is ok; however, it does make you checkout and repeat the process as opposed to just adding another movie
Posted by: Rich | June 09, 2009 at 08:03 AM
i just want you guys to lower the movies you get to buy from 7$ to 5$
Posted by: adalberto delgado | June 09, 2009 at 09:24 AM
I honestly hate it. I can not reserve movies online anymore. I just keeep getting error message that i have not selected a movie which I had. I tried over and over and it just makes me really mad. When it was the old site never had any trouble just selected what movies i wanted quick and easy and went and picked them up at that redbox. NOW I CAN'T SELECT ANYTHING I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO SELECT AND RENT THE MOVIES I REALLY WANT TO SEE ONLINE!!! I think I'm going to go back to Netflix I get them in 1 day of selection and it is a one time fee that way I don't have to deal with this website anymore.
Posted by: Sheri | June 09, 2009 at 09:48 AM
It would be great if there was an option to store your favorite movie pick-up location, so that would be the first place the computer checked for your desired movie. Also, on the rental confirmation page, if there was an option to go back to the same rental location to search for more movies, without starting the whole process over again.
Posted by: Jc | June 09, 2009 at 10:40 AM
I really don't like the home page.
I think it should look more like the kiosk's main screen.
Posted by: Alicia | June 09, 2009 at 12:55 PM
I would agree with the addition of more blu-ray website options, as well as more blu-ray movie selections within the catalogue. Especially in the Mid-west region. Thanks in advance.
Posted by: Tami | June 09, 2009 at 03:58 PM
You seriously need to address the issue of not providing blu-ray availability at your RedBox locations. We NEED to know where blus can be found. This is really keeping me from going to all the locations around my area. Instead I only get a movie MAYBE when I get a free monday code or whatever. If I knew where to find blu rays I would rent from you all the time!! PLEASE!!!
Posted by: Dana | June 09, 2009 at 04:24 PM
Hope you add a simplified mobile interface soon. I'd love to be able to find what I can pick up locally and reserve through m.redbox.com
Posted by: Keith H | June 09, 2009 at 05:36 PM
Is this whole site built on word press?
Posted by: Eric | June 10, 2009 at 12:12 AM
I like the redbox! We have used it almost every weekend! I try to reserve ahead of time online and have no complaints!
Posted by: Mel | June 10, 2009 at 09:52 AM
I see comments here about Blu-Ray being available, but I've never seen it as an option when renting. I would definitely LOVE to see more movies with a Blu-Ray rental option...even if I had to pay $1-2 more...that would still beat Blockbuster with their rental costs. I would also like to see a "Coming Soon" feature on the website.
Posted by: kst | June 10, 2009 at 06:26 PM
I wish you could cancel a reservation after making one online.

I have been trying to use Redbox since last month, and I keep getting a message after I select my movies and swipe my debit card, that they can not process my request, and my credit card would not be charged. After this happening a couple of times, I called customer service, and they informed that that Redbox has stopped taking debit cards issued from credit unions. This is my only bank, I'm not switching to a traditional bank just so I can use Redbox, but I miss being able to get $1 movies!!
Come on, Redbox--bring back some of your customers and let us credit union bankers have a chance!!

My family loves using Redbox. Great ideas you have in store, it seems.
My family just rented Dance Flick and that was a great movie and that film Dance Flick is like the adult version of the 2007 film Hairspray, just wanna comment on that. Otherwise Redbox is great.
Posted by: Livia | September 12, 2009 at 06:41 PM
I haven't even seen the new look of Redbox, yet so I will look out for it.
My been using Redbox since 2009, we started in the Summertime. We love Redbox. My family has been using Redbox for the past four months. My family uses two Redboxes nearby, one is near our town that we live in and one is up in a town that is way up north.
I remember something, the last time I went. I saw on all new releases that post be coming soon such as Management, it says on the screen of the films that post come out in the next month or two "Coming Soon" then click on the film then it says when it will be available to Redbox on what date it post be at the Redbox, like that it tells you when the film is up for rent. Usually all the new releases are on Tuesday because thats when the new releases come out for Redbox.
Otherwise, like the new look on the Redbox and the official website of Redbox!
Great post Redbox\Redblog! :)

So is RedBox even reading this? Several people have mentioned or requested a mobile friendly version of the site, but there isn't any m.redbox.com or redbox.com/mobile. C'mon guys, isn't this an obvious way to help your customers spend money on your service. It would even be useful to have just a bare bones list of movies with tiny pictures of the disc jacket covers that lets you search by zip-code for a location that has your selection in stock. It would be nice to reserve/rent that way too, but anything would be better than nothing. The current site is great in a regular computer browser but it doesn't seem to work in a "small screen" mobile browser at all.

I like your easy-2-rent movies. this is such an easy way 4 me 2 rent your movies. much easier than blockbuster & net flex. Sorry 2 say but B.B. & net flex suck. RED BOX is the way 2 go. No doubt..........about it. I always tell my friends 2 check it out. they also like it.Keep up the good work red box.com...
