It looks great, but unfortunately the "find a movie" page returns nothing but an error this morning (5/7/2009)
Posted by: DT | May 07, 2009 at 06:10 AM
The new page looks great, and I can't wait to use it. However, it still leaves me wondering when there will be an Iphone App with all these great features plus location aware searches.
Seriously, as a parent of three children I think you are missing out by NOT having a location aware Iphone App. I would often swing the car by and pick up a DVD we had just rented on the phone if we had an app that told us exactly where the next Redbox on our trip was located, just to keep the kids entertained.
I also know that having the ability to see my rental return receipt show up on my phone before I left the box would be a great feature too!

@DT: try forcing a refresh of the page (Ctrl+F5)
Posted by: flipflap | May 07, 2009 at 11:14 AM
Site working great as for saving your favorite Location
all you have to do is find location, then at the page
bookmark it and always use that link.
Posted by: Rojas | May 07, 2009 at 03:26 PM
I like how it appears a bit more user-friendly, but I was very disappointed to see that you dropped Blu-ray movie rentals in the genre area. True, it never seemed to have any listed in that section anyway, every time I clicked on its link, but I so sincerely was hoping that when you upgraded this website, you actually went to the trouble to genuinely offer more variety, better quality, along with improved service & efficiency, rather than simply giving it a moderate face-lift to appear slightly more attractive in "it's look & feel."
Posted by: Nathan | May 07, 2009 at 04:59 PM
every time i click on a movie to rent it says there is an error. I can't rent anything!!

The site doesn't seem to work with Firefox on a Mac. I can load it in Safari, but not in Firefox.

As of this morning (5/7/09) I am having the same problem as some of the other folks .... returns error when selecting movie using AOL but works with IE.
Posted by: Richard Bailey | May 07, 2009 at 06:21 PM
Hey, VERY nice! The tags that show whether or not a movie is available for rent at a specific kiosk has never been more obvious and clear. Great work.
Posted by: The Turnip | May 07, 2009 at 07:01 PM
I would like to see the "Coming Soon" movies on the web site. Whenever I go to the machine it tells me what is coming for the next week, but it would be a great feature if I could log on and check. :)
Posted by: Mark | May 07, 2009 at 09:01 PM
I also get the error message when trying to view titles.

Tried the new sight for the first time. I hate to be redundant but it doesn't seem to be working.
Posted by: Phillip Rozanski | May 08, 2009 at 09:07 AM
Site is great. Didn't like the fact I had to re-enter card information, but other than that the new look is great. I love the online rental process. It's fast easy and keeps you from having to stand at the box trying to figure out what to get while others are waiting too. Doing online means you can browse at your leisure and it guarantees you will get the movie you want to rent. Thanks. Enjoy your day.
Posted by: Mona Lisa | May 08, 2009 at 12:53 PM
I would like to be able to reserve Blu-Ray movies from the online site. there is no way to know what blu-ray movies are avalible at the different locations from the website. the previous blu-ray listing in catagories was never populated. this addition would increase my online reservations a great deal.
Thanks,
Posted by: rod | May 08, 2009 at 01:51 PM
You made the new site so great that it has been rendered useless. You don't get the kudos, folks, until it actually works.

Can you please make it work with Safari 3.2... It only works with firefox. ARG.
Posted by: Jason | May 08, 2009 at 03:04 PM

Not too impressed so far. Been trying to rent a movie on line for two days and cannot even get started. Keep getting message "The server method 'title' failed". Also cannot get the information about the movie, actors, etc to appear.
Also had some major problems renting on line a couple of weeks ago and your reps finally ended up giving me two comp movies but neither one of the codes worked.
Posted by: BB | May 08, 2009 at 04:55 PM
I like redbox anyway its cheap easy and I love the online rental's!
Rock on REDBOX 8-)

I cannot update my account with my credit card # that you indicated would need to be input again in order to rent - due to the "improvements" made to the website. So I cannot update my account, cannot rent, not when using firefox, IE, OR AOL browsers... This is very frustrating!
Posted by: nancy | May 08, 2009 at 06:33 PM
when are you going to fix the site still does not work......your rentals must be way down if you can not reserve online

Fix the friggen web pages.. I want to find a movie but cannot... don't launch until you have tested.... terrible once again redbox. If you anger customers it doesn't matter how cheap the rentals are. FYI, you stink for ending free monday rentals..

Posted by: Jack | May 08, 2009 at 07:26 PM
I keep getting error dialogs when reserving movies, trying to update my credit card info, and whenever I hit the back button. Also had to log in several times before it authenticated my password. Too many errors to be acceptable.
Posted by: Dan | May 08, 2009 at 07:42 PM
Please tell me that you DO have a professional developer working on this site. The new layout is ok - but there are so many errors thrown that it is not usable. I am a developer - this type of rollout would not be acceptable.
Posted by: Dan | May 08, 2009 at 07:47 PM
Like it so far (although it's less fun than it used to be) ... Any chance there's an option coming to rent several movies at once from a single location without going through all the steps again?
Posted by: Ashley | May 08, 2009 at 07:51 PM
I tried to use the site, and it seems to be just as bad as it was before:
Sorry, the request failed. This could be caused by a temporary error, try again later.
*wonderful* I love standing in line to see if the movie I want is available.
Posted by: Joseph | May 08, 2009 at 08:06 PM
What was wrong with the previous FUNCTIONAL Redbox site? If it aint broke, why fix it? Now, when attempting to reserve a movie, it had problems accepting my credit card information. Then when finally reserved, it could not match my records at the box. How disappointing! I hope this system is resolved for next weekend's possible movie rental.

Don't really care for it. Ellie
Posted by: Ellen | May 09, 2009 at 01:45 AM

NOTHING SHOWS when I click to view messages.
Sorry to say, but it's hard to rent a movie when nothing displays... unfortunately you lost a sale!
You'll likely loose customers quickly if you don't resolve this technical glitch.

One thing you forgot to put on the website update is before when you reserved a FIRST movie online, you could push a button "Reserve another movie" and now you have to go back basically to the start again and hit reserve online. Could you please put the reserve another movie button back.
Posted by: Sandra | May 09, 2009 at 04:18 AM

New site looks great. However, I wasn't able to reserve movies online last night and I encountered problems trying to reserve movies online today. After a few attempts, I was finally able to reserve movies. Are there a few glitches still in the new system?

Posted by: roxanne | May 09, 2009 at 11:24 AM
Site looks good. Would appreciate it if you could reserve multiple movies without having to go through the entire process each time. It would also be nice to see what movies are reserved in the account information.
Posted by: Reid | May 09, 2009 at 11:32 AM
Your new website does not work with Mozilla Firefox. When trying to select a movie, the movie thumbnails do not display. This is not a problem in IE.
Posted by: Stanley Shaw | May 09, 2009 at 12:45 PM
I like the new look but I still have one hope. Whenever I type in a certain movie I want it only gives me a certain amount of options as to choose where from. However none of these locations have the movie I wish to rent. I would like to know where the closest location for the movie I WANT is.
(The example is Iron Man in 02747)
Posted by: Ryan | May 09, 2009 at 02:06 PM
Since we are allowed to rent up to 5 movies at a time it sure would be nice to add to cart, return to the same location and keep shopping till we are done then check them all out at the same time. Just like you can do at the box.
It is so annoying to have to go back and find your loacation for each title you want. Even having a fav location come up when you log in would be logical.
It is nice to have more then on card on file now and to edit them also.

Posted by: Rachel | May 09, 2009 at 07:59 PM
How come I can still only see 10 locations max, which vary depending on what local zipcode I enter? You've already asked me for a mileage radius, why not show me all the machines within that area?
There are more than 10 Redbox locations in my city of 250k, but it is still small enough that I might drive across town to find the movie I want that is no longer available at my neighborhood grocery store.

I really like using red box.the changes are great.i wish there was a red box in the winn-dixie stores to though.
Posted by: jennifer herring | May 09, 2009 at 08:41 PM
I love using the website to reserve movies and then pick them up. I would love to see more advanced search options when looking for a movie. For example, being able to search by rating, actors, etc.
Posted by: Karen | May 09, 2009 at 08:55 PM
I agree with what was said above but really want to reiterate- make an iPhone app for redbox - One that could find the nearest redbox(s) to your current location and available rentals. I can't tell you how many times I try to rent movies from my iphone with about a 10% success rate - mobile safari does not like your website! A native app would be AWESOME! My only other two complaints - unless I am missing it why cant we use a coupon code with an online reservation? And I hope blueray, despite the higher cost, begins to get into more machines. I love your service and its the only reason I havent gone digital download yet... redbox is too good of a value -keep up the good work!
Posted by: Chris Duncan | May 09, 2009 at 08:56 PM
I'm really disappointed! I love to reserve movies online and now I can't even view the movie info when I click on the movie. I just keep getting the message about the title fail error... what is wrong?? Please fix this because I love renting movies online!
Posted by: Beth | May 09, 2009 at 09:08 PM
Don't like the new look, prefer the old one. What happened to my card info, had to do it again_ very painful effort.
Posted by: S. Sheikh | May 09, 2009 at 10:42 PM
I want to reserve a movie before I go to the redbox but I can't do anything. It won't let me find a redbox or view any movies. I don't want to waste my time and gas to drive out to the redbox if they don't have the movie I want, or maybe it's not even working since I can't access anything. I tried yesterday too and had the same problem. So I didn't bother renting anything. I guess I won't rent anything tonight either. You should get that fixed.
Posted by: Janeen | May 09, 2009 at 11:06 PM
The new site came w/o warning and is not easier to navigate, e.g., finding redbox locations and making online rentals is more difficult and I rent a lot of movies so this is very disturbing...also, even when I finally made an online transaction and went to pick up the movie, the machine posted error messages and would not let me have any movies. This is very frustrating for one who has given redbox lots of business and had redbox, in time past, in high regard. This just happen within 24 hours.
Posted by: Palma Chandler | May 09, 2009 at 11:07 PM
I tried it on my cell phone, a Sony Ericsson, but when I try to pick a text box to enter in my location, it won't let me do that. It gives me an error and says that I need to enter required information. That's what I'm trying to do, redbox! LOL. But I just bought a used Twilight DVD at one location and I loved it, so thank you! =)
Posted by: Leah | May 09, 2009 at 11:28 PM
I agree this is a pain...I have been trying for days to reserve online and it isn't working!!!!!
Posted by: Linda | May 10, 2009 at 08:06 AM
Since you changed the format, I haven't been able to
reserve a movie online, therefore I think it's terrible.
Posted by: Loretta Wernikove | May 10, 2009 at 09:43 AM
There needs to be a way after reserving a movie online to go back to the movie section. It was on the old website, yet somehow missed being on the new website. Food for thought, otherwise the new website has a cool and slickness to it.....
Peace
Posted by: Julius | May 10, 2009 at 10:42 AM
I've been using your online reservation system for a while now...takes the pressure off while I'm making a selection.
Recently, however, I've been unable to pull up the movie selection or go beyond entering a zip code for a Red Box location.
What's happened? Is it at my end?

I would like to see the Blu-Ray DVDs in a different color, Similar to Diesel at a Gas Station. My local wal-mart is always busy, so there is a line. I try to move fast, not to hold up the line. In doing so I missed the small Blu-Ray that is just below the DVDs Title.I rented 2 Blu-Rays by mistake. I think There should be a Large Blu-ray Icon, Banner, or a color change for the Blu-Ray DVDs. This may speed up the movie selection process Which would Please the customer and make Red Box a little more money, Other than that I have no complaints, I enjoy being ale to go Pick a Movie for a Buck! I watch movie's I would normally pass by.
Thank You!
Red Box
Keep up the great work! It's Will Improve with time!

Not sure what you did but I can no longer get anywhere on site and it is a big waste of my time compared to the past when it was a breeze and a pleasure to deal with you. I would sooner spend a few more dollars with someone else and get less hassle. You made a mistake in making your site user unfriendly....
Posted by: Joe Oaster | May 10, 2009 at 05:21 PM
There are people who wrote here who can reserve online and people who cannot.
Did those who failed to reserve call redbox for support? Obviously not everybody is comfortable to give out their logins in this blog and troubleshoot.
For the record I was able to browse and reserve in FF3.

The site looks great and I like the ease of use but alas, many buttons are not working (entering Zip Code to find a RedBox, for example) and searching all Titles by name reveals an error code without displaying the titles. I'm sure it's being worked on, just thought I'd feedback what I found.
Browser - Safari 4 - all standard plug-ins installed.
In regards to DT's post of May 7th - I too would greatly enjoy an iPhone app that works much as the site does...

Most of the new website is pretty good, but I really don't like the red type. It gives me the impression that there is an error, or that the title is unavailable. I would like to see an upcoming releases page, or at least list the new releases for that week on Monday nights on the homepage.
Posted by: Mindy | May 11, 2009 at 09:53 PM
i wish redbox would have a box for game system games, like playstation and stuff... that would be neat!
Posted by: leanne | May 11, 2009 at 10:07 PM
I think the site looks great. Yes there are couple errors here and there but that will always happen when upgrading. My suggestion would be an email alert system/ notification for when a movie you add to your favorite list has been returned to location (s). Maybe one day this feature might be added but I can see the drawback of it not being fair, for first come first served.
Posted by: xbjay | May 11, 2009 at 10:14 PM
