Since my “Coming in February” post, we’ve survived the polar vortex, wind chills of -50 here in Chicago, too many feet of snow to mention, and a broken furnace (OK maybe that last one only applies to my household). So … yeah. I am OVER winter already. Luckily, Punxsutawney Phil could not find his shadow, so that means we’re supposed to have an early spring commencing in March — just weeks away! Though my brain tells me it’s silly to base any sort of hope on the whims of a large rodent, my aching bones, chapped lips and dry skin need something to hold on to.

Thankfully we have more than just the promise of better weather to look forward to in March. We’ve also got lots of great movies hitting the Box and Redbox On Demand.

Three standouts of the bunch include:

Creed II: Fans of the Rocky franchise will be all over this eighth installment, which pits Ivan Drago’s son Viktor against Adonis Creed (Apollo Creed’s son — Apollo was killed by Ivan in 1985’s Rocky IV) in the ultimate revenge match. Not only is everyone from 2015’s Creed back — Michael B. Jordan, Sylvester Stallone and Tessa Thompson, among others — but Dolph Lundgren and Brigitte Nielsen have also reprised their roles from the ‘80s.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald: Prepare for things to get dark in this Harry Potter spin-off series sequel. The dangerous and powerful wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) has escaped prison and is on a mission to build up a base of followers to help him execute his evil agenda. Even though Grindelwald’s former friend, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law), might be the only one who can stop him, Dumbledore first needs the gentle Magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) to sniff out Grindelwald’s hiding place.

Aquaman: The funniest (and beefiest) member of the Justice League (played by Jason Momoa) gets his own movie, which lets us take a deep dive into the underwater kingdom of Atlantis. That’s when we find out that Sebastian from The Little Mermaid lied! Everything is NOT “better down where it’s wetter.” In fact, Atlantis’s power-hungry King Orm (Patrick Wilson) is doing what all bad rulers do: planning world domination at any cost. And only his half-brother, Aquaman, can stop him. Nicole Kidman, Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe and Dolph Lundgren (again!) round out the cast.
