Do you have coulrophobia? AKA – a fear of clowns. If you do, stay out of movie theaters this weekend or you can expect IT to hit the fan. Based on Stephen King’s classic shocker, IT features one of King’s most terrifying incarnations of evil: the shape-shifting, child-killing clown, Pennywise.
Demon Bozos are nothing new. Clowns have been creeping out movie audiences dating back to 1924 in He Who Gets Slapped. We dare you to check out these evil clown movies (and we even threw in a Joker as a wild card).
Remember the movie in which Tim Allen turns into Santa Claus? Same deal here—except a dad turns into a killer, cannibalistic clown. Let that be a lesson to you: always get your clown suits from a costume store.
On one side: Batman, Green Arrow, Cyborg, Nightwing, and Red Robin. On the other: Scarecrow, Clayface, Solomon Grundy, and Silver Banshee. It’s just a typical Halloween night in Gotham City, but when you throw in the clown prince of crime, the Joker, and his “digital laughter” computer virus, you have an animated adventure that’s a real treat.
With a name like Hotel Hell, don’t expect cable TV, a continental breakfast, or chocolate mints on the pillows. Much more likely is that the place is cursed and a killer clown stalks the halls, giving a new meaning to “check out time.”
