You Could Win a Copy of Shelter Me!

This giveaway has ended. We’ll be announcing the winner shortly. Thanks for participating, and be sure to check back for a new giveaway launching on Friday morning that won’t make you miserable (that’s a hint).

There’s a saying that if you save an animal’s life, they’ll end up saving yours right back.

Never is that point proven more powerfully than in Shelter Me, an uplifting documentary that celebrates the human-animal bond with positive stories about shelter pets and their new “forever homes.” You’ll follow the journey of two stray dogs from the moment they’re picked up on the streets and brought to a shelter until the day they become beloved family pets. You’ll also go behind the scenes at a women’s prison, where inmates train shelter dogs to become service animals for people with disabilities. And be sure to have tissues on the ready for the segment about shelter pets that are helping returning war veterans cope with PTSD.

If yours is the name we draw at random on Wednesday, you’ll be able to revisit all of these heartwarming stories whenever you want, because you’ll win your very own copy of Shelter Me (Approximate Retail Value (ARV): $14.99)!

To have a shot at the prize, all you have to do is tell us in the comments section below:

I love dogs, specially big ones. my favorite breed is the Golden Retriever, I used to have one but she passed away a long time ago. Know I live in an apartment and I have a beautiful, caring, lovable, loyal, miniature Yorkshire Terrier called Bindy Lynn.

I have been prone to boston terriers for the last several years. This year, however, after 2 boston terriers have passed away, I have leaned toward miniature pinschers. I purchased a female brown min pin (we named her molly). We purchased her in 11/2011. After I saw the little girl kick her and saw Molly’s demeanor, I knew I was going to get her out of that environment. So she and Corkie (boston terrier) get along really well.
Then, in March 1, 2013, my husband was on his way to work over a secluded mountain top with no houses around, and saw a black/tan min pin – but he thought it was at first a fox. My husband said ‘if that dog is still there when we come back through in the morning – then I will pick it up’. So the next morning when my husband was coming back over the mountain from working, the little dog was standing in the same exact place. That night the temperature was down to 20degrees. So, they pulled over, and the little dog jumped right into the vehicle and sat on his lap as if she had been doing it all along. So she came home to live with us. So, now we have two female (spayed) min pins 5 years old, and 1 black/white male (neutered) boston terrior 10 years old.
They all get along really well, and it gets better and better every day.
All the dogs are so lovable and provide lots of cuddling and love. Our lives are so much better for having these precious pets in it.

My favorite breed isn’t a breed at all. It is a mutt. Warm, loving, funny, and undeniably loyal. A Dalmation and Spaniel mix.

I dont think that I have one specific breed as a favorite . I think that all of them are special in their own way. Poor lil mix breeds never get enough credit. They can come out being some of the most beautiful and loyal dogs ever. I have one who has almost xied on me anx finally recovered I am now moving to a diferent home for her because she is not allowed at my home. She is half mountain cur half who knows. But she is mine and im proud of my Maggie Mae.
