Noemi’s Pick: A Thousand Words

We hear that saying “think before you speak” all the time, but the movie, A Thousand Words, takes that to a literal level! Eddie Murphy plays the part of an egoistic book-publishing agent that’s willing to do anything to get what he wants. In this case, he wants to publish a book written by a spiritual guru whom actually doesn’t want the book published.

The magic starts after a tree mysteriously appears in Murphy’s backyard, and with every word Murphy speaks, a leaf falls off the tree. When the final leaf drops, well, that means Murphy will die. Throughout the movie, Murphy has to improvise on ways to communicate without using speech, and let’s just say it’s rather interesting and will make you burst into laughs.

Ah, yes! One more thing… by the end of the movie, you might feel a little enlightened and it might just make you really think before you speak. You may even feel an urge to go water your plants… or tree.

Did she convince you?
