Mike’s picks: All of the pre-Avengers movies . . . and The Muppets
A little background—I’m the only guy in a house with a wife and three little girls. Even the guinea pig is female. So when my wonderful wife is out with friends and the kids are asleep, I love to catch up on the latest movies that I know they won’t want to watch with me. I think I’m a fairly typical guy when it comes to movies, and I love a good action flick. In terms of pure entertainment value, I’d highly recommend the current Marvel pre-Avenger movies—both Iron Man & Iron Man 2, Thor, and Captain America. They’re all very entertaining, with plenty of action, mayhem, and great special effects.
When we’re having Family Movie Night, we need to be mindful of our kids’ ages to make sure the youngest (who’s two) will sit and watch but the rest of us will still be entertained, too. A movie like The Muppets is a great option. It brings back great memories of our childhood watching the Muppets on TV, it tells a great story for the older kids about the importance of family, acceptance, and finding one’s place in the world, and of course it has the silliness that keeps the youngest watching.
