Introducing The Redbox 5 (with Jeff K)

Jeff K Redbox FiveWe’ve got a fun new feature for you here on Redblog: The Redbox 5.

Every other week or so we’ll be asking a Redbox fan the same five questions about movies. “What’s this all about,” you say? Well, let’s let our first interviewee, Jeff K., show us all how it’s done:

1. What’s the one movie you couldn’t live without?

Wow…this is a tough question as I have several favorites. I suppose if I had to choose one, it would be The Princess Bride. It may not be my overall favorite movie, but it has a little bit of everything in it.

2. What movie character you would love to hang out with?

Another tough question. There are so many cool characters out there. Do I go with Han Solo, Rhett Butler, or Jack Sparrow? One thing is for sure, they are all good at heart, but have that bit (OK maybe more than a bit) of scoundrel in them. That said, I also like a nice strong and sexy heroine like Ripley, Alice, Jill Valentine, or Lara Croft. I don’t think I can decide, but someone from one of those two categories.

3. Share a time that Redbox made your day a little better.

I love the quick and easy DVD rentals and the trivia contests on the blog, but I thought I would pick something a little unusual. A few months back I entered the “Hug your Redbox” contest and was chosen for the final cut and was awarded with a nifty Redbox t-shirt. I didn’t expect to win the contest, but to get an unexpected runner-up prize was pretty cool.

4. Besides a Redbox movie, what makes movie night perfect for you?

I generally reserve popcorn for the actual theater as it’s just never the same at home, no matter how fancy the microwave popcorn manufacturers get. So I like to either get some takeout sandwiches and chips or some Chinese and snuggle up on the couch with my wife while we eat and watch. Sometimes we get fancy and do this in the hot tub, but the TV isn’t that great and food in a hot tub can get a little messy.

5. “You had me at ‘hello,’” “I’m the king of the world,” “I see dead people”…what’s your favorite movie line? Ever used it?

“I drink your milkshake.” – Daniel Plainview, There Will Be Blood. This line can apply to so many things, so yes, I’ve used it and slight variations of it many times.

I drink your milkshake!

We love your answers, Jeff! Thanks for chatting with us!

Stay tuned for another installment of The Redbox 5 in two weeks. What do you have to do to be one of our featured Redbox fans? Just take part in our fun movie conversations online—here on the blog, on Facebook or on Twitter, and we’ll take note!

Kind of neat feature you have started. We love the Redbox convenience, right in the supermarket we shop in. Retuns at the corner 7eleven. Always good selection of the latest hits.

There is nothing better than finding a movie on my iPhone redbox app and reserving it so I am guaranteed the movie. I just wished redbox made an express box that only lets you pick up a reserve movie made online, so you would never have to wait for those people that go to the kiosk to browse and take up to 5 min to finally rent one. When you reserve online it takes less than 45 sec to pick up your movie.

redbox is an excellent service but its mixed in with people who either don’t understand technology or have a computer at home making it very annoying when you have to wait inline behind them.

PLEASE PLEASE redbox, make an ONLINE ONLY BOX!!!!!!

jeff I to love redbox. If it was”t for the big red i could’nt afford to rent movies. comcast rentals are way to high,as are blockbuster. sometimes I get a b rated movie ,but take it as a worthwhile gamble. So for me redbox is like finding a treasure find. Thanks respectfully, George

A Redbox just for people who reserve online is totally impractical! You’d be limiting the choices of those who don’t reserve online (since Redboxes right next to each other often have different inventory) and leaving a lot of unrented DVDs in the process.

What you really need is to program the Redboxes so they have the capability of allowing someone to return a DVD when others are browsing.

Or they could expand the Redbox and have 2 kiosks for the same inventory, one of which is express…
Of course, then they’d have to replace every box, and I question whether the people who can’t figure out how to use the machine would understand what oblige only meant, thus rendering it an exercise in futility…

The redbox is a cool invention and I live using it but lately it seems as the movies that are seleced to go in are like home made movies with bad acting and some that I like are movies end up being plays…come on redbox step your game back up don’t put anything of bad quality even if u have to use old classics but let’s get better at the movies in the box….the last three movies I rented I returned the same night cause they sucked!!!!

Redbox is easy and affordable. I’m glad our Walmart has 2 because our Walmart went out of business. I do missed buying the used movies though. Maybe Redbox could create a kiosk that sells used movies at a reasonable price.
The mere Redbox 5 blog is interesting. Its nice to see what others enjoy. I didn’t even know Redbox had a blog. Silly me everyone had a big these days. Lol
Keep up the good work guys.

I love to Redbox. I like to reserve the movies I want and pick them up in a couple of minutes. If one Redbox doesn’t have the movie I want I there are 7 more kiosk surrounding the one I go to at other stores.
