The Most Romantic City in America (and More!)

With Valentine’s Day just a couple of weeks away, Redbox announced the most and least romantic cities in America (based on the number of romantic comedies rented in 2011). And let’s just say that when it comes to romance, the Midwest is best.

Top 10 Most Romantic Cities:

  2. Green Bay, Wis.
  3. Ames, Iowa
  4. Cedar Rapids, Iowa
  5. Sioux Falls, S.D.
  6. Wausau, Wis.
  7. Grand Rapids-Kalamazoo, Mich.
  8. Fargo, N.D.
  9. Madison, Wis.
  10. Mankato, Minn.

The 10 Least Romantic Cities:

  1. Laredo, Texas
  2. Midland, Texas
  3. Greenwood, Miss.
  4. Victoria, Texas
  5. Eureka, Calif.
  6. Odessa, Texas
  7. Las Vegas, Nev.
  8. Florence, S.C.
  9. Meridian, Miss.
  10. Tucson, Ariz.

 

Redbox also polled more than 3,300 customers nationwide about Valentine’s Day & romantic movies. Here’s the fun stuff we found out:

  • 61% of Americans will be spending Valentine’s Day with a movie.
  • Romantic comedies top the list as the best movie genre for date night (38.8%), followed by laugh-out-loud comedies (24.8%) and new releases (18.5%).
  • Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling were the couple to beat, as America voted The Notebook its favorite movie love story (31.8%).
  • 48.3% of Americans hope to get a thoughtful card this Valentine’s Day. Flowers (38.7%), candy (23.3%) and jewelry (18.9%) round out America’s wish lists.
  • Forget fancy dinner reservations this year: more respondents would prefer a homemade meal on Valentine’s Day (37.7%).

    If the results are based on where they rented the most romantic comedies, then the poll doesn’t work because the people that rent romantic comedies are usually single lonely girls meaning there is less romance in their lives lol.

    I love Columbus, Ohio it’s very romantic. I hope there are more good Romantic Comedy’s out this year! Can’t wait for Josh Gad and Kristen Ruhlin in She Wants Me, plus who doesn’t love Charlie Sheen?!
