Jason Bateman Stars in the Freeze Frame Challenge (& The Change-Up!)

The Change-UpSome major drama went down on Redblog over the weekend: Longtime Freeze Frame champion and Reader Who Rocks Glenn Berkshier, who took a much-deserved break over the Thanksgiving holiday, failed to make a comeback this weekend and instead his movie-trivia rival—nay, NEMESIS (and Threes master extraordinaire)—2sa, emerged victorious with the win! That’s right, good ol’ 2sa was the first to identify these three movies as Starsky & Hutch, Juno and Hancock.

Nine minutes behind 2sa with the right answers was newcomer Lori Wager, and then seven minutes after Lori came third-place winner (and first-time player as well) Kristin. What’s more, both 2sa and Kristin knew that what tied the three movies together was actor Jason Bateman. Congrats to all and great job!

I chose to revolve this weekend’s quiz around Bateman because not only is he one of my favorite actors of all time, but he’s also in The Change-Up alongside Ryan Reynolds, which arrives at Redbox on DVD and Blu-ray tomorrow. As I’m sure you know, in this “switched bodies” comedy, the two guys swap physical identities after making a drunken wish aloud while urinating in a fountain at the same time. And the actors do a PHENOMENAL job of taking on each other’s quirks, ticks, and vocal and physical mannerisms. I actually liked Bateman better in this one than in Horrible Bosses (though I realize I might be in the minority with that opinion).

Others besides 2sa and Kristin who knew Bateman was the Common Thread and therefore get to make themselves a Pin o’ Pride include: Kristi, Richie Rich, Glenn Berkshier, Cassie, Ruben, Noraadan, Michael Dorsey, Dennis, Steven Steele, Scott Voogd, Charles Tweed, Derek Dagostino, Leigh Steckler, Obmulap, Ken, Wayne Davis, AND Dave. Huzzah!

And I’d be remiss if I failed to give a special shout-out to both Daniel Howat and Carl Dorskoff, who pointed out something else that the trio has in common: All three films have at least one of the main characters’ names in their titles. How observant are Daniel and Carl, folks? I’d say they are CRAZY observant! Bravo.

Thanks to everyone who took a shot at the quiz. I’ll leave you with the trailer for The Change-Up, m’kay?

The Change-Up will arrive at Redbox tomorrow on both DVD and Blu-ray!
