CONTEST NOW CLOSED.

Last week I promised you that we’d be having a giveaway today that might rival the popularity of our Rango contest. And now the time has come to see if my prediction will come true.

What’s up for grabs this time around is a copy of Source Code (rated PG-13), the sci-fi thriller directed by redblog’s favorite son of David Bowie, Duncan Jones, and starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmia, and the always excellent Jeffrey Wright.

A majority of the film is set on a doomed commuter train bound for Chicago. Doomed because there’s a bomb hidden in one of the cars that will kill all of the passengers on-board, and there’s nothing anyone can do to prevent this from occurring—because it’s already happened. See, Jake’s character is able to live the last eight minutes of one of those passengers’ lives—over and over and over again through a government time-loop program called the Source Code. His mission is to figure out who’s behind the bombing in order to prevent a much bigger future attack.

Now, all of that is pretty intense on top of being more than a little bit morbid. So let’s lighten things up for today’s contest, shall we? How about if you tell me who you’d like to switch lives with (for an entire day, not just a measly eight minutes) and why? If you do that—and keep it respectable and family-friendly in the process—you’ll be in the running to win a copy of Source Code.

The Official Rules:

  • Only one entry per person.
  • In the comment field below this post, tell me who you’d like to switch lives with for a day, and why. And please, keep it clean or your submission will be disqualified.
  • Leave your email address in the email address field ONLY—this will not be published on the site, but we’ll be able to see it and will need it to contact you if you win. Anyone who leaves their email address in the main comment field will be disqualified and their entry will not be published.
  • You must live in the US or Puerto Rico.
  • Enter before 3 PM Eastern Time, Friday, July 29, 2011. We will select one winner at random after that time and will post his or her name here on the blog in addition to sending an email.

Good luck!

I’d like to switch place with Bill Gates for a day… The reason? The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is an amazing plilantropic organization that is helping fund reform and restoration of state-of-the-art practices in education with its generous grants and donations. It would be a pleasure and insightful to, for even just a day, be a part of the discussion or decision making process to see how this board of directors or application review team thinks, and operates. It is my passion that education makes the jump into the 21st century…. This field (education) is so stuck in the model of teacher centered curriculum delivery vs the more needed student centered modern model that incorporates converged technology devices like computing and reading Pads, Net books, Smartphones, Smartboards, and 1:1 laptop to student programs. The B &M Gates Fndtn is leading this movement! Modern education should feature a teacher as the facilitator to small group student centered learning, not the teacher as the instructor to classrooms of large numbers of note taking students, or students simply sitting, listening, and waiting to be spoon fed information.

If I could switch lives for a day with someone I would want to switch with a military soldier. Just to see with their eyes what they must go through day in and day out in foreign countries. Dealing with war and constantly defending our freedoms. It would be scary but I would do it .

I’d like to switch lives with the president. I say this because it would be interesting to find out just what the president knows and what information he really has access to as well as to experience the power he has. It would also be interesting just because it’s like being a secret celebrity as far as all the preparation that goes through something as simple as a visit to somewhere or giving a speech. It would be a truly unique and once in a lifetime experience and probably life changing as well. It would forever change the perspectives you’d have on many things even after you had your own life back!
