Movie Trailer: In Time, Starring Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried

Between his much-loved Saturday Night Live skits and his recent big-screen roles in Bad Teacher and Friends with Benefits, no one’s doubting Justin Timberlake’s comedic chops. No one’s really doubting his dramatic chops either, after his turn as Sean Parker in The Social Network—a performance many assumed would lead to some awards love for the singer-turned-actor… but didn’t (blame Yogi Bear!).

Now Timberlake’s trying his hand at the whole “action star” thing in Andrew Niccol’s In Time (previously entitled Now) alongside Amanda Seyfried. See if you think he’s got what it takes in the film’s four-minute “sizzle reel” that was shown at Comic-Con:

As JT himself said in his 2003 McDonald’s commercials, “I’m lovin’ it!” I’m getting a less gory Repo Men vibe, which is a good thing, as I thought that 2010 sci-fi thriller was criminally under-appreciated. Kiwi writer/director/producer Andrew Niccol is no slouch when it comes to creating believable alternate and/or futuristic realities, as evidenced by Gattaca, The Truman Show, and S1m0ne. (Oh, and speaking of Niccol, he WILL be directing the adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s The Host after all, which I mentioned as a possibility back in May when reporting Saoirse Ronan’s casting as the lead.) Since as how The Host is yet another sci-fi action/adventure, I think it’s fair to say that Niccol has found his preferred genre.

But back to In Time—here are its posters:

We definitely saw enough of In Time for you to form an opinion, so let me know what that opinion is in the comments!

Interesting, like Logan’s Run or something, but I’m not liking the hair on Seyfried :3

I think the premise is great and Niccol has proved to be a worth-watching director. I’m definitely watching this movie as soon as it his theaters.

My first thought was Logan’s Run, but this is more sinister. Over-privileged people living too long while simultaneously controlling the “undesirables” by making their lives too short. Hope it is not prophetic.
