First and foremost, Happy 4th of July! I hope you’re having a marvelous extended weekend. Because of today’s holiday, I tried to find an appropriately themed trailer to share, but alas, the closest I could come to a film with any sort of “independence” message was Immortals, about bad-guy Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) trying to free his fellow Titans from banishment to the underworld by declaring war on all mankind. So, you know, totally appropriate and clearly patriotic. (Work with me.)
I actually just told you more than you’d probably be able to figure out on your own from this trailer… you can thank me later.
hits theaters on November 11 and was directed by Tarsem Singh, who is directly responsible for me falling in love with actor Lee Pace (star of Singh’s gorgeous 2006 film, The Fall
). Clearly this Clash of the Titans
-esque effort carries the director’s trademarked visuals of the dazzling variety, but I’m a little bit concerned about the dialogue and acting. Seemed a bit hokey (and there was even more to judge in the longer (??) teaser trailer
released at the end of April).
But do I still want to see it? Oh, yeah. If nothing else, the look and feel of Immortals will be stunning — and may also be one of the few movies for which I don’t mind donning 3D glasses.
