The Winner of the John Wayne True Grit!

You folks love yourself some Duke!

About 800 of you entered the True Grit (1969 version) giveaway, and when asked for your favorite John Wayne Western or movie it’s no surprise about a fourth of you picked True Grit itself.

Other Wayne Westerns getting a lot of love included The Cowboys, McLintock!, The Sons of Katie Elder, Rooster Cogburn, Big Jake, Rio Bravo, The Shootist, The Searchers, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, and North to Alaska. Of the non-Westerns, The Quiet Man was the clear leader, followed by The Green Berets.

Your winner of his very own DVD copy of True Grit (’69) from redbox is Greg Jackson who cast his vote for Cahill U.S. Marshal. Congrats, Greg!

Read my look back at the John Wayne True Grit, and watch next week for my review of the new Coen Brothers’ version starring Jeff Bridges.

Remember, Thursdays are giveaway days here at redblog, so come on back to see what else we’ve got going on! (Heck, you can even come back on days other than Thursday for news, reviews, and all sorts of fun stuff.)

And if you didn’t win a copy of True Grit today (that is, you’re someone other than Greg Jackson), you can always rent it from redbox as you get ready for the new version.

I’m happy I didn’t win, was looking for a movie to watch earlier today, and found a copy of it in my collection. Completely forgot I owned it lol would have felt horrible if I got it.
