Although I should have known better — Black Swan IS a film by Darron Aronofsky (Pi, Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler), after all — the beginning of its trailer had me sighing, “Oh, yippee. A battle of ballerinas. SNORE!”
But then I reached the – 52 point. Whaaa…. ?
Yep, freaky stuff is goin’ down with these ballerinas. I absolutely loved how the real shocker was kept until the very end of the preview — talk about a twist ending (of sorts). I’m not even going to mention it in writing out so as to not spoil anyone inadvertently. Suffice it to say that I am sold — hook, line and sinker. Black Swan is opening the 67th Venice Film Festival, which begins tomorrow. Stateside it will have a limited release starting on December 1.
