Trailer: Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan

Although I should have known better — Black Swan IS a film by Darron Aronofsky (Pi, Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler), after all — the beginning of its trailer had me sighing, “Oh, yippee. A battle of ballerinas. SNORE!”

But then I reached the – 52 point. Whaaa…. ?

Yep, freaky stuff is goin’ down with these ballerinas. I absolutely loved how the real shocker was kept until the very end of the preview — talk about a twist ending (of sorts). I’m not even going to mention it in writing out so as to not spoil anyone inadvertently. Suffice it to say that I am sold — hook, line and sinker. While Aronofsky’s aforementioned films have been a bit too dark for me, Black Swan seems right up my alley in the psychological/possibly supernatural thriller aisle. And I say that as someone who cannot stand the sound of Natalie Portman’s baby voice!

Black Swan is opening the 67th Venice Film Festival, which begins tomorrow. Stateside it will have a limited release starting on December 1.

If seeing a naughty Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman in this trailer got you all hot and bothered and you can’t wait three months to catch either of them again, then don’t forget that the ex-That ’70s Show star can be found:

  • Kicking butt and taking names alongside Denzel Washington in The Book of Eli, currently in redbox kiosks on both DVD and Blu-ray.
  • Making out with James Franco in Date Night, which will be in kiosks next Tuesday.

And Queen Amidala doesn’t have to be a stranger, either.  She can be found in:

  • Brothers, with Golden Globe-nominated Tobey Maguire and Jake Gyllenhaal, and
  • New York, I Love You, with almost every hip celeb known to mankind.

Yeah, I’m there too, I own Pi and recently saw Requiem for the first time (yes, I’m behind…), but yeah, that was shocking…
