The Fellowship of the Vuvuzela

I went to start a post about a very different topic a few moments ago… and then came across this video that’s making the rounds because It. Rocks. It’s not going to make much sense to anyone who knows nothing about the World Cup, though. Well, I take that back. All you really need to be familiar with is the abomination that is the vuvuzela. If Gandalf can’t put an end to its annoying blast, then no one can.

Isn’t that an insta-classic? My favorite parts were: 1) how they incorporated the LOTR theme music… even though it did sound more kazoo-like then vuvuzela-ish, and 2) “You… shall not… PLAY!”

Pure genius.

I think they should start using vuvuzelas for golf. That would show me who the true athletes are.

Funny video, but all this vuvuzela trashing is just an excuse for people to rag on a sport they don’t like / understand. All big matches have had a loud atmosphere even before South Africa, and if you actually sit down and watch to enjoy the match, not just to hear that “annoying” sound people keep talking about, it won’t even phase you. They really nailed the accent at the end of that video too – it’s only off by about 10,000 miles.

It’s the music from the “They’re taking the hobbits to Isengard” LotR spoof.
