Don’t Make Me ICE You!

Iron Man 2.  Toy Story 3.  Shrek Forever After.  Robin Hood.  Inception.  Eclipse. The A-Team.

Those are but a few of the most anticipated Summer 2010 movies we’ve talked about here on redblog over the past few months, and now it’s time to add another to the list. OK, so I actually wrote about it ten months ago when its first trailer was released, but we haven’t heard much else about it until recently, when two new trailers hit the web.  I’m talking about M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender.  Or, “the movie that wanted to use Avatar in its title until James Cameron threw a hissy fit about it and got his way.”

Yes, as I explained here (so I won’t rehash it all again), M. Night’s latest is an adaptation of the Nickelodeon cartoon series Avatar: The Last Airbender. You will not find blue creatures in it. You will, however, find one badass little kid with a glowing arrow on his forehead.  So that’s pretty cool.

Below are the final previews — I’m including both because, FOR ONCE, we’ve got two trailers for the same movie and they’re actually quite different.  Stuff like that makes me very happy.  I hate when trailers just recycle the same clips over and over.  So TLA has already scored points with me.  It scored some more with its unintentionally hilarious posters, but I’ll talk about that in a second.  First, trailer number one:

And now, trailer two, in which we finally get to see the creature behind that gravelly, powerful voice:

HOLD UP. I did not know there were going to be dragons in this movie until I watched that second spot. Now I am PSYCHED. Hells yeah!

You all know that in addition to being a dragon fan, I’m also an M. Night fan, so I’m really pulling for him on this one. He needs a win. What’s worrying me is that he also wrote it, and — let’s face facts — the dude’s not too great with dialogue sometimes (Exhibit A: The Happening). Hopefully all of the fireballs and ice storms and airbending will make up for any other weak spots.

Currently The Last Airbender is scheduled to hit theaters on July 2 — three days after Eclipse, the same day as the Tom Cruise/Cameron Diaz thriller Knight and Day, and two days before Fourth of July festivities commence. Oh, and did you catch that it’s — surprise, surprise — in 3D?

But here’s the funny part. (Or at least I got a chuckle out of it.)  Look closely at the posters below.

Do you see what I see at the very bottom?  The “Also Playing in 2D” line?  It’s like “Hey, for all y’all who are totally SICK of 3D, fear not! We got you.”

Love it.

This looks great and if it is anything like the show then I think he has got a hit on his hands. I love the show and this looks like a winner to me. I know I am going to see it and take all my friends with me.
I give it two thumbs up.

To bad the second trailer has a banner on it directing people to a scamsite to supposedly download the movie. That site will ripoff your credit card number if you submit it and you will get absolutely nothing in return, except massive headaches! It also will install malware and trojans on you computer when you visit. You can install the WOT plugin/addon in your browser to warn you about scamsites like [removed].
The blogger of this page should be ashamed that she posted it in the 1st
place. Maybe Ms. Olson is an affiliate for the above site. Shame on you if you are! If your going to post vids in your blog you need to know better. This(my) comment will probably never get posted.

Sonny, obviously there are NO banner ads on the actual trailer Erika embedded here on OUR site–if you click through the trailer it takes you to the Yahoo.com trailer page from where she got it. Whatever banner ads you see on Yahoo’s page are their responsibility and are tailored to individual users. (For example I saw no such banner ads at the Yahoo page when I checked it.) If you have a problem, take it up with Yahoo–you clearly encountered it on their website, not ours.

Needless to say, Yahoo is a reputable and respectable website and one we have no problem embedding from or linking to in the past or the future. We cannot be responsible for everything you find on the Internet–if you follow enough links and ads, sooner or later you’re going to run across some trouble (this is certainly true over at YouTube, from where we embed a LOT of trailers and clips), and especially if you’re trying to buy things you know are illegal in the first place, such as downloads of theatrical films before their release date.

We’re sorry you got taken by an illegal operation linked from on someone else’s website, but please don’t come on here accusing us of intentionally trying to scam you. We embedded and posted a legitimate, legal trailer from a reliable source–we’re not the ones trying to illegally download films from the Internet.

OMG OMG OMG!! I loved this cartoon, and recorded every episode up until the very end. I loved the end!! I wonder how they are gonna make this one end…who knows??

Furthermore…I don’t give a rats ass if black, white, asian, indian etc, actors play the part—if they look like them and can act good then what’s the difference?! I am just super exited to see this cartoon portrayed by real live human beings!! These trailors gave me chills!! The guy from ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ is playing Zuko!! Holy CRAP!!! YAY!! and I saw some characters and animals that I didn’t even think about them having in the movie! It looks just like the cartoon but REAL!!

I wish folks would shut up about racism. I can’t see how it could personally offend anyone. It’s a movie–a fictional story–We should all be thankful that someone was rich enough to make this movie even happen!!! Ahhhh—-did you SEE Appa??!!!! I AM SO PUMPED ABOUT THIS MOVIE THAT I COULD CRY!!! THANK YOU M KNIGHT SHALLYMAN!!!! I TRULY LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!
