The overnight temperature dropped to forty degrees here in Chicago, so of course I'm completely panicking and am in the process of hauling out snow boots and puffy jackets because surely the first blizzard is going to hit before the end of the week. I will not be unprepared!
Since Mother Nature has forced me into the winter state of mind, I thought today would be an appropriate time to discuss the newest trailer for Robert Zemeckis and Disney's A Christmas Carol. You may remember that Locke had the opportunity to not only hear Zemeckis speak about the film, but also get a sneak-preview of some scenes back in July, and he was (much to his own surprise) pretty impressed.
Now the rest of us have a chance to pass judgment!
So what did you think? I thought it was… interesting. I'm such a sucker for Dickens' timeless tale that I'll probably see this no matter what, and I do believe that the scenes shown above will be extra-cool in 3D, but I'm not entirely sold on the overall look — it was kind of freaking me out.
We're going to run a Film 101 installment that focuses on performance-capture technology at some point before A Christmas Carol debuts November 6, so stay tuned for details about how the Jim Carrey you've come to know and love was transformed into Ebenezer Scrooge. But until then, I'm going to crank up the heat in my condo (how un-Scroogelike of me, huh?) and hope that I even make it to November without freezing solid in front of my laptop.
