We’ve made it to the middle of September, and so far we’ve awarded goodie bags to 25 redblog readers who’ve displayed their knowledge of movies (or ability to perform Google searches reaaallly fast) and have thereby won our various contests.
So today we thought we’d give some goodie bags to those who are simply lucky. All we’re asking you to do is tell us what your favorite movie is in the comments section directly below this post. The winners will be those who just so happen to be in the following positions in the list of responses:
9 – In honor of my boy Elijah Wood’s newest film… and because District 9 ain’t so bad, either.
12 – Because I liked both 12 Angry Men and 12 Monkeys.
16 – In honor of the late John Hughes and his ’80s classic, Sixteen Candles.
21 – In honor of my boy Jim Sturgess’ 2008 movie and my love of Vegas.
48 - For 48 Hrs., to remind us how awesome Eddie Murphy used to be back in the day.
Now, you better pay close attention to these rules, because they’re slightly different than our previous contest guidelines and you don’t want to be disqualified…
- One entry per person. Multiple entries will result in disqualification.
- The five people who are in the positions listed above will win goodie bags… unless they’ve already won one over the past few weeks. If a previous winner is in one of the listed positions, we will take the next person in the line-up and all other positions will remain the same.
- Submissions must include an email address (in the email address
field, NOT in the body of the comment) so we can
contact the winners and get your mailing address to send you your swag.
- Only US-based readers can receive prize bags.
- You must be over 18 to win a swag bag.
- Submissions containing vulgar film titles will not be posted or considered.
I’m going to post entries in batches — not as they come in — so there’s no way to game the system, folks. This contest is simply about being in the right place at the right time.
On that note — good luck!

The Haunting in Connecticut. It was scarier because it was based on a true story.

Ridiculously impossible, therefore (and without taking the serious amount of time this topic deserves):
Man Movie (NOT starring The Duke) – First Blood, with a nod to True Lies.
Western (NOT starring The Duke) – The Outlaw Josey Wales, with a nod to Jeremiah Johnson
Romantic Comedy – The Quiet Man
Real Comedy – Caddyshack, with a nod & a wink to Monty Python & The Holy Grail
War (NOT starring The Duke) – Band of Brothers, with a nod to The Four Feathers (1939)
Out of space?! This IS ridiculously impossible!

I think I’m a bit late, but Glengarry Glen Ross will always be my favorite. A tremendous script performed by an unsurpassed ensemble.
