The Bee Gees Get No Respect in the Frost/Nixon Trailer

by Erika Olson | Dec 1st, 2008 | 10:30AM | Filed under: Trailers

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I’m a sucker for films based on true stories.  Especially when they are adapted from award-winning plays, directed by Ron Howard, have British actors in their casts, somehow make The Who’s criminally overused "Baba O’Riley" still work in their trailers, and include not only a random reference to the Bee Gees but also the phrase "I will ruin you" in their characters’ dialogue.  Frost/Nixon meets all of those criteria.  Who would’ve guessed?

Yep, this one has "Oscar" written all over it (James agrees).

Of the many heavy-hitters being released in the final weeks of 2008, Frost/Nixon is the one that has me most excited.  Be sure to catch James’ full review of the movie later this week!

For those of us who are new to Redbox, stop trying to be cute when writing. I have no idea what you are trying to say. Name dropping Bee Gees, Ron Howard……please.

What’s really stupid about the Bee Gees reference? If the interview was 1977 (which I remember and checked), the clip of the Bee Gees and the Frost interview was 1979…

So the interview was 1977 but the clips of the Bee Gees and the interview they did with Frost was 1979? Didn’t anyone bother to check?
