A new, full-length trailer for July’s Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has arrived! After I got over my knee-jerk excitement at hearing this news, I calmed down enough to watch the nearly two-minute clip. Since I want to attempt to be as discerning as I was with the Watchmen trailer, I must admit that I wasn’t digging the preview below until its final thirty seconds.
I don’t care about Ron falling under an infatuation spell or Harry macking on girls — I want to see wizardly duels! I want to see Snape! I want to see Dumbledore! Thankfully, we were fed a few thrilling crumbs from the sixth movie near the tail-end of the trailer. But now I’m even more depressed that this movie isn’t coming out next weekend as originally planned. July 2009? It’s so dreary here in Chicago that next summer seems dreadfully far away. Where is a spell to speed up time when you need one?

I’ve actually never seen any of the movies, even though I’ve read all the books… I tried watching the first one, but it was so soon after I had read the book, and so exactly like the book (and so badly directed by Chris Columbus), that I didn’t make it all the way through. I think I need to try again.
