Let’s do a rundown of what we know so far about Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland.
We know that:
- The movie will be filmed in 3D
- Johnny Depp will be playing The Mad Hatter
- Pictures have leaked of young Australian actress Mia Wasikowska dressed as Alice on the film set in Cornwall, England
- English actor Matt Lucas (Shaun of the Dead, Little Britain) has been cast as Tweedledee and Tweedledum
- The film’s release date has tentatively been set for March 5, 2010
And now, word is that Michael Sheen (starring in the upcoming Frost/Nixon) is also joining the cast, though no one knows what role he’ll be playing. My vote is for the Cheshire Cat. Seriously, that is the coolest role left, he should want it! Am I wrong?

Depp is indeed Disney’s golden egg, so this will surely make money. But after enduring the bore-fest that was “Willy Wonka” I’m not sure I could sit through this one.
